Money Magazine Ranks Parsippany in the Top 20 Places to Live — and Wayne Makes the Top 500

September 24, 2014 by Joseph Rand

Congratulations to the people of Parsippany on making Money Magazines “Top 50 Places to Live” list, which was published this week.  Parsippany actually made the top 20, ranked #16 throughout the the entire country and  was the top ranked community in New Jersey of the three areas that made the list (Franklin and Piscataway were the others).

We’re delighted to see Parsippany make the list, especially considering that it’s the location of our newest office in New Jersey.  Indeed, we’re really thrilled to see three of the communities we service make the top 50.  In addition to Parsippany at #16, we also service Clarkstown (which made #7) and White Plains (#48) in New York.

In addition, Wayne in Passaic County made the top 500.  After the top 50, the other 450 communities aren’t ranked by number, so we don’t know if Wayne finished 51 or 499 — but we think it’s a great place to live, and also to have one of our flagship office locations, so we’re hoping it just missed the top 50.

The magazine’s methodology seems to focus on job growth, economic strength, home affordability, and schools.  Here’s what Money Magazine had to say about Parsippany:

This northern New Jersey burb is home to dozens of Fortune 500 companies including Avis, Wyndham hotels and PNY Technologies. But there’s more to Parsippany than a robust job market. It has 800 acres of preserved land, 31 recreation parks, two 18-hole golf courses and several lakes.

Though there’s no town center, a popular gathering spot is Lake Parsippany, where residents picnic and play softball. The Women’s Theater Company, a professional theater group, is based at the 99-seat Parsippany Playhouse.

Parsippany is also one of the more affordable towns in the area. Though single-family home prices range from $100,000 to $1 million, a four-bedroom, two-bath home in a desirable neighborhood can be had for $400,000 to $500,000. It’s also got a diverse population; 30% of residents are Indian or Asian.

So congratulations to everyone from Parsippany on this distinction!
