Last week, we offered you tips to use when spring cleaning. This week, we’re going to go beyond that and provide you with advice on how to stage your home in the spring, if you’re looking to sell. Spring is a gorgeous time of year, and you would benefit from using the clear blue skies and blooming gardens to your advantage to make your home look the best that it can. So, before you begin showing your home to potential buyers, here are some ways to make your home its most appealing.
Of course, the first thing you should do is spring clean. I won’t go into much detail about this aspect because you can just refer back to our most previous blogpost, but it’s important to clean your home before you start the actual staging process. Get rid of any winter clutter, clean every room, drive out any unwanted odors, and do whatever else you can to thoroughly clean before the staging process.
If your home is mostly adorned with a warm color palette, definitely consider making a switch to a cooler palette in order to have the home more in tune with the season, especially with the bright and beautiful environment outside.
On a sunny day, brighten up your room by drawing back all of the curtains. On a rainy day, leave your curtains down and turn on all of the lights. Remember, you want your home to be as well-lit as possible so you can show off its features and details.
Other than cooler color palettes to help bring the feel of spring into your home, think about doing some decorating by placing a small flower arrangement in each room. It won’t only present the buyer with a springtime image, but will also give off some very pleasing and relaxing aromas that will permeate throughout the home, which will surely add to the overall beauty of the interior.
You want the outside of your home to be as appealing as the inside, so if you really want a potential buyer to be impressed before they step through the front door, think about doing some gardening, or maybe even consider hiring a landscaper if you plan on making any bigger changes. Whether you decide to enhance the outside yourself or with the help of a professional, you want the potential buyer to consider this home as a possibility as soon as they see the outside. It’s also an excellent and eye-catching touch if you fix up the home’s front entrance a bit, maybe by placing a potted plant on each side of the doorway to really give the impression to the potential buyer that they are in for a treat when they enter the home.
When focusing on your home’s exterior, don’t just put your time into the front part; make sure to dedicate as much time preparing the back. When the warmer months arrive, everyone wants to have a beautiful backyard that they can lounge in, and you’ll want to have one to present to your potential buyers. Do some gardening or landscaping to make your backyard amaze the buyer, and also put in some new backyard furniture to show your buyers that this home will be a great place to host outdoor events with friends and family, such as barbecues and birthday parties.
Spring arrives this Friday, so if you’re planning on staging your home for the season, now is the perfect time to start. With the comfortable weather approaching, potential buyers will feel more inclined to venture outside and attend an open house. If you use the benefits of spring to your advantage, there’s a chance you might find some luck in finding a buyer.
